There are many variables and it all depends on the use that is made of it and the main factors that influence battery life are:

THE ROUTE (ascent - plain - descent)

As the car climbs a bicycle consumes more than in the plains, the reason is obvious, and that is why all the data that are declared are always referred to paths in the plains, as it is the optimal condition for measuring the autonomy. So if on the flat I can travel 100 km, in a demanding climb you can travel with a 400Wh battery even only 20 km, or vice versa.

THE WEIGHT (of the cyclist and the bike)

To increase autonomy, you need to minimize the mass, minimizing the overall weight of the bicycle and luggage. Obviously it also affects the weight of the cyclist! With the same bike, 10 kg more or less can make the difference.

THE TYPE OF ASSISTANCE REQUIRED BY THE ENGINE (minimum, medium, maximum)

All the main engines on the market have various levels of assistance from the lowest to the highest. The difference is in the torque delivered, the greater the torque delivered the greater the thrust. It goes without saying that the energy consumption will be greater. It is a bit like in the car the more you accelerate the more consumption.

THE WEATHER

In addition to the wind that can be in favor or against the climatic condition that most affects the battery life is the TEMPERATURE. The ideal operating condition of a battery is between 15 and 20 degrees, so the further you move away from that range the less the charge duration will be. CONDITIONS OF THE ROAD

With a smooth road surface and in perfect condition you can travel more kilometers than a rough or even unpaved road surface. It is therefore important to also consider this variable during use.

THE PRESSURE OF THE TIRES

Rolling resistance can be minimized with the correct tire pressure. If the tire is flat, the bike strains more and therefore consumes more. If you are taking a bike trip with duffel bags it is best to inflate the tires to the maximum allowed.

CORRECT USE OF THE EXCHANGE

Proper use of the gearbox makes the eBike more efficient. Low gears should be used when starting and uphill to reduce the effort. It has already happened to me that a customer never changed his relationship and every time he tackled the climb that takes him home the bike switched off. After various investigations we realized that the ratios did not change and consequently the engine overheated and went into protection. This behavior, in addition to not benefiting the engine, consumes more and also ruins the rear sprocket set.
